Fields of Mistria

๐Ÿ“œ Quest Guide

Fields of Mistria has four quest types: Story Quests (main progression), Requests (repeatable errands), Heart Quests (character stories), and Festival Quests (seasonal events). This guide covers the main story questline in order, the Town Rank system, and the Request Board โ€” everything you need to progress through the game.

Quest System Overview

Fields of Mistria has four distinct quest types, each serving a different purpose in your progression. Story Quests are the main progression path โ€” they unlock new areas, features, and NPCs. Requests are repeatable errands from the Request Board that provide steady income. Heart Quests are personal storylines tied to individual villagers and unlock deeper relationships. Festival Quests are seasonal events that occur on specific dates. Unlike some life sims, quests in Fields of Mistria never expire โ€” you can always return to them later. However, some quests have timing requirements (specific day, time, or weather) that you must meet to trigger them.

  • Story Quests: Sequential main progression that unlocks features and areas.
  • Requests: Repeatable errands from the Request Board โ€” never expire, reset weekly.
  • Heart Quests: Personal storylines tied to villagers โ€” unlock deeper relationships.
  • Festival Quests: Seasonal events on specific dates โ€” time-limited but repeatable yearly.
  • Quests never expire โ€” you can always return to them later.

Town Rank System: Your Progression Gate

Town Rank is Fields of Mistria's master progression system. Every action that benefits the town โ€” selling crops, completing quests, donating to the museum, building relationships โ€” earns Renown, which fills the Town Rank meter. Each rank unlocks new features, quests, and areas. The system has 9 tiers, each with 10 levels (except Mistril, which caps at level 100).

RankLevel RequiredKey Unlocks
Iron1โ€“9Basic farming, early story quests, Request Board access
Stone10Mines entrance unlocked, new vendors, mid-game quests

๐Ÿ’ก Town Rank gates major content โ€” if you're stuck, check your rank before grinding. Some quests only trigger at specific ranks.

Main Story Quests: Early Game (Spring Year 1)

The early game story quests introduce you to Mistria's mechanics, NPCs, and systems. These quests are sequential โ€” each unlocks the next โ€” and cover the first two weeks of Spring. Completing them unlocks farming basics, the Request Board, the Mines, and core town features.

Main Story Quests: Mid Game

Mid-game quests open after you've established basic farming and unlocked the Mines. These quests introduce crafting, cooking, blacksmithing, and festival participation โ€” the core loops that sustain long-term progression.

Main Story Quests: Late Game (Spoiler-Gated)

Late-game quests are gated by Town Rank and Mine depth. These quests unlock endgame features, legendary items, and the final story content. Many require significant resource investment or deep mine exploration.

๐Ÿ’ก The Water Tablet quest grants a Heart Crystal that permanently increases your max HP by 20 โ€” one of the most important late-game upgrades for mine survival.

Request Board: Repeatable Income & Renown

The Request Board is located near the town square and offers repeatable errands from townsfolk. Requests never expire and reset weekly (every Monday). Each request asks for specific items and rewards Tesserae plus Renown. Crown Requests unlock at Sapphire Rank (50) and offer higher rewards for rarer items. Unlike story quests, you can complete multiple requests per day, and the same request can appear multiple times across weeks. Requests are a reliable income source and a steady way to build Town Rank without grinding mines.

  • Requests reset every Monday โ€” check the board weekly.
  • Requests never expire โ€” complete them anytime.
  • Crown Requests unlock at Sapphire Rank (50) with higher rewards.
  • Requests reward Tesserae + Renown โ€” good for Town Rank progression.
  • You can complete multiple requests per day.

๐Ÿ’ก Keep a stockpile of common forageables (Wild Berries, Clay, Wood, Stone) โ€” requests often ask for them, and having extras lets you complete requests immediately without waiting.

Quest Givers Directory: Who Gives What

Each townsperson has specific quests they offer. Knowing who does what helps you plan your route and prioritize quests. Some NPCs only appear after certain story quests or Town Rank levels.

Progression Tips: What to Do When Stuck

Fields of Mistria's quest system is designed to guide you naturally, but some players get stuck on resource requirements or timing. Here's how to stay on track.

  • Check your Town Rank โ€” many quests are gated by rank, not just story progression.
  • Complete 'Greet the Townsfolk' first โ€” it unlocks dialogue with everyone.
  • Repair the Bridge early (Spring 3) โ€” the Saturday Market is critical for selling.
  • Keep a forageable stockpile โ€” requests often need Wild Berries, Clay, Wood, Stone.
  • Time-specific quests (Friday at the Inn, Spring Festival) must be triggered on the right day.
  • The Mines unlock at Stone Rank 10 โ€” if you're below that, focus on farming and requests.
  • Crown Requests unlock at Sapphire Rank 50 โ€” they're worth the wait for high rewards.
  • The Water Tablet (Floor 20) grants +20 HP โ€” prioritize it for mine survival.
  • Donate Perfect items to the museum, not sell โ€” museum completion is endgame content.
  • Talk to NPCs daily โ€” some quests trigger from casual conversation, not the quest log.

๐Ÿ’ก If you're stuck, check the Request Board โ€” completing requests builds Renown, which raises Town Rank, which unlocks the next story quest.
