⚔️ Weapons Guide
Swords are the only weapon type in Fields of Mistria. This guide covers all 12 swords — 6 craftable at the anvil and 6 mine-drop finds — with their attack values, materials, Blacksmithing requirements, infusion bonuses, and a tier list from the starter Worn Sword to the Dragon-Forged endgame blade.
Weapon Types in Fields of Mistria
Swords are currently the only weapon type available for combat in Fields of Mistria. Axes, pickaxes, hoes and watering cans are tools — they cannot be used as weapons. The wiki notes that other weapon types (daggers, hammers, bows, staves) are unconfirmed for future updates. Every sword in the game falls into one of two categories: craftable swords (made at the anvil via Blacksmithing) and mine-drop swords (found in treasure chests or from Mimics in the Mines).
💡 There are no bows, staves or dual weapons as of v1.0 — all combat uses a single sword slot.
All 12 Swords: Craftable & Mine-Drop
The game has 12 swords total. Craftable swords and mine-drop swords alternate in power — mine drops fill the gap between each craft tier, so you always have an upgrade path even before you can afford the next ingot.
| # | Sword | ATK | Type | Materials / Source | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Worn Sword | 4 | Starter | Buy at General Store (150t) or start with it | None |
| 2 | Scrap Metal Sword | 6 | Mine drop | Upper Mines chests / Mimics | Well Armed (Combat perk) |
| 3 | Copper Sword | 8 | Craft | 4× Copper Ingot | Blacksmithing Lv 8 |
| 4 | Verdigris Sword | 10 | Mine drop | Tide Caverns chests / Mimics | Well Armed |
| 5 | Iron Sword | 12 | Craft | 4× Iron Ingot | Blacksmithing Lv 14 |
| 6 | Crystal Sword | 14 | Mine drop | Deep Earth chests / Mimics | Well Armed |
| 7 | Silver Sword | 16 | Craft | 4× Silver Ingot | Blacksmithing Lv 20 |
| 8 | Tarnished Gold Sword | 18 | Mine drop | Lava Caves chests / Mimics | Well Armed |
| 9 | Gold Sword | 20 | Craft | 4× Gold Ingot | Blacksmithing Lv 26 |
| 10 | Corrupted Mistril Sword | 22 | Mine drop | Ancient Ruins chests / Mimics | Well Armed |
| 11 | Mistril Sword | 24 | Craft | 4× Mistril Ingot | Blacksmithing Lv 32 |
| 12 | Dragon-Forged Sword | 26 | Endgame craft | Void Herb + Void Pearl + Void Powder + Void Stone + Voidite at Dragon Furnace | Deep mine progress; insta-kill chance |
💡 Mine-drop swords require the Combat perk "Well Armed" to appear in treasure chests. Feed a Mimic any item instead of fighting it — it will drop loot without combat.
How to Craft Swords: The Blacksmithing Path
All craftable swords are made at the anvil outside the Blacksmith's Shop (northwest Mistria). You cannot place a personal anvil on your farm yet. The process has two steps: smelt ore into ingots (10 ore → 1 ingot, 20 min craft time), then forge the sword (4 ingots → 1 sword, 1 hour craft time).
- Ore can also be bought from the Blacksmith Store: Copper 50t, Iron 70t, Silver 100t each.
- Craft time can be reduced by Blacksmithing perks: Time Sensitive I (−10 min) up to Time Sensitive IV (−40 min total).
- Every craft has a 15% base chance of an Infusion bonus: "Sharp" gives +1 ATK, "Leech" restores 1 HP per monster hit.
| Material | Ore Location | Mine Floors | Ingot Recipe | Blacksmithing Level |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Copper | Upper Mines | 1–19 | 10 Copper Ore → 1 Ingot | Lv 4 (tools) / Lv 8 (sword) |
| Iron | Tide Caverns | 21–39 | 10 Iron Ore → 1 Ingot | Lv 10 (tools) / Lv 14 (sword) |
| Silver | Deep Earth | 41–59 | 10 Silver Ore → 1 Ingot | Lv 16 (tools) / Lv 20 (sword) |
| Gold | Lava Caves | 61–79 | 10 Gold Ore → 1 Ingot | Lv 26 |
| Mistril | Ancient Ruins | 81–99 | 10 Mistril Ore → 1 Ingot | Lv 28 (tools) / Lv 32 (sword) |
💡 Prioritize crafting the Mistril Sword (24 ATK) as your reliable best weapon. The Corrupted Mistril Sword (22 ATK) is a strong alternative if you are farming Ancient Ruins and get lucky with chests.
Mine-Drop Swords: How to Get Them
Mine-drop swords can only be obtained in the Mines. There are two sources: treasure chests (requires the Combat perk "Well Armed" to include weapons) and Mimics (dormant chest-shaped creatures that drop loot when fed). Both are RNG-gated — there is no guaranteed farm. Community reports mention farming "3 full sets of Corrupted Mistril Armor" without a single Corrupted Sword dropping, so patience is required.
- Well Armed (Combat perk) adds biome-specific armor and weapons to chest drop tables.
- Mimics stay dormant until interacted with — throw any item near one to get loot without a fight.
- The Combat perk "Gift Exchange" can double Mimic rewards.
- Mine-drop swords fill the gap between craft tiers: Scrap Metal (6) sits between Worn (4) and Copper (8), Verdigris (10) between Copper (8) and Iron (12), etc.
The Dragon-Forged Sword: Endgame Weapon
The Dragon-Forged Sword is the most powerful weapon in the game. It is crafted at the Dragon Furnace (unlocked after "The Dragonsworn Tablet" quest on Floor 90 of the Mines) using Void materials: Void Herb, Void Pearl, Void Powder, Void Stone and Voidite. The sword has 26 ATK — the highest of any sword — and a low insta-kill chance on hit.
- Recipe: Void Herb + Void Pearl + Void Powder + Void Stone + Voidite.
- Crafted at: Dragon Furnace (Floor 90 of the Ancient Ruins).
- Special effect: Low insta-kill chance on hit.
- Requires: Deep mine progress (~Floor 90), Blacksmithing 30+.
💡 The Dragon-Forged Sword (26 ATK) is the only sword that surpasses the Mistril Sword (24 ATK). Its insta-kill chance makes it invaluable for deep-mine farming.
Best Swords: Tier List
| Tier | Weapon | ATK | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| S (Endgame) | Dragon-Forged Sword | 26 | Insta-kill chance; deep endgame materials |
| S | Mistril Sword | 24 | Best reliable craftable; Blacksmithing 32 |
| A | Corrupted Mistril Sword | 22 | Best mine-drop; Ancient Ruins + RNG |
| A | Gold Sword | 20 | Best mid-late craftable |
| B | Tarnished Gold Sword | 18 | Lava Caves drop; good bridge before Gold |
| B | Silver Sword | 16 | Solid mid-game craftable |
| C | Crystal Sword | 14 | Deep Earth drop |
| C | Iron Sword | 12 | Early-mid game workhorse |
| D | Verdigris Sword | 10 | Tide Caverns drop |
| D | Copper Sword | 8 | First upgrade, very early game |
| F | Scrap Metal Sword | 6 | Slightly better than starter |
| F | Worn Sword | 4 | Starter only |
Weapon Infusions: Bonus Effects on Craft
Every time you craft a sword (or armor, or tool) at the anvil, there is a 15% base chance it receives an Infusion — a bonus effect. The Infusion is random. Weapon-specific infusions:
| Infusion | Effect | Applies To |
|---|---|---|
| Sharp | +1 Attack Power | Weapons |
| Leech | Restores 1 HP per monster hit | Weapons |
| Fortified | +4 HP when worn | Armor |
| Lightweight | Occasionally drops stamina orbs | Tools |
| Hasty | +4% movement speed | Armor |
| Tireless | +4 base stamina | Armor |
💡 A "Sharp" Mistril Sword gives 25 ATK (24 + 1) — the best confirmed non-endgame weapon. A "Leech" sword is invaluable for long mining runs where healing food is scarce.
Practical Tips
- Always check the Request Board — March (Blacksmith) often requests ore, which pays well and teaches the crafting system.
- Mine-drop swords are RNG; do not rely on them as your primary upgrade path. Craft your way up and treat drops as bonuses.
- The Dragon-Forged Sword requires Void materials from Floor 90+ of the Ancient Ruins — this is endgame content, not something to rush.
- Infusions are random; save-scumming (reloading before craft) does not work — the result is determined when you start the craft.
- Mistril armor illuminates the Ancient Ruins' darkness; Mistril sword does not have this effect.
- Feed Mimics instead of fighting them — the Combat perk "Gift Exchange" can double the return.
